We know how nerve-wracking it can be to do your first on-camera interview. At Fresh Ink, we love to make the process as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. With a little bit of preparation, doing an on-camera interview can be a fun and rewarding experience. Here are our top five recommendations for a successful camera interview:
Show Off: Your interview will essentially be what you tell your prospects, employees and clients every day. If you imagine that you’re pitching your services to the interviewer, the shoot will go smoothly and easily.
Smile: Smiling helps to calm your nerves and gives you a warm, friendly presence on-screen. It will boost your confidence and attract viewers to your approachable personality.
Be a Parrot: When you’re asked a question, always repeat it back in the context of your answer. For example, if you’re asked “What sets you apart from other companies in the industry?” you should say, “What sets us apart from other companies in the industry is…” Repeating the question back as a full sentence gives the viewer a clear sense of what you’re talking about and why he or she should be listening to your expertise.
Look Over Here!: During our interview process, we will have you look at the interviewer instead of directly into the camera. This will help to make you more comfortable and help you feel more natural.
Prepare: Prior to filming the interview, jot down some talking points. It’s not necessary to write out a full script and memorize it. Working from an outline instead of having a full script will make you sound more candid, relaxed, and comfortable. We will send out the questions that we will be asking in advance so that you have time to write your talking points and prepare.
We want to make sure that you show your very best self during your interview. Our talented team is there to make the process as effortless as possible.
